Warangal: All is set for the launch of second phase of ‘Telangana Haritha Haram’ in the district on Friday. Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation mayor N Narender, MLA D Vinay Bhasker, district collector V Karuna, commissioner of police G Sudheer Babu and forest officials have called upon the public to take part in the Haritha Haram programme actively.

MLA Vinay Bhasker has on Thursday flagged off a campaign by Telangana Samskruthika Saradhi under the aegis of district forest department and information and public relations department at forest office in Hanamkonda.

About 12 cultural troupes of Telangana Samskruthika Saradhi would conduct the campaign in 12 assembly constituencies highlighting the importance of 15-day Haritha Haram programme in the district, informed the I&PR deputy director, D S Jagan.

The programme district coordinator and in-charge additional principal conservator of forests, M Prudhvi Raju, conservator of forests Raja Rao and the TRS district president T Ravinder Rao, divisional forest officers (DFOs) M Purushotham, V Srinivas Rao, Bheema Naik, Kishta Goud and others were present.

On Wednesday, the mayor, the collector, commissioner of police have visited Rampur and Madikonda areas on the outskirts of the city, where Haritha Haram programme would be launched by Tourism Minister A Chandulal at 9 am.

The collector, Karuna, who reviewed the arrangements, asked the officials to plant saplings at their allotted point. Nearly 2,000 saplings would be planted on a stretch of five kilometres spread between Rampur and Madikonda. Haritha Haram posters released

In-connection with Haritha Haram, Disha, a social service organisation based at Mahabubabad released awareness campaign posters on Thursday. Disha president V Gurunadha Rao said ‘Haritha Haram is not a government programme but it is a people’s movement
for the protection of environment’.

Protection of environment was one of the important duties of a citizen and the plantation programme would help in correcting ecological imbalance, overcoming drought and reducing temperature, he added.

NSS volunteers take out rally. NSS volunteers of AVV College have taken out a rally to sensitise public on the need of planting saplings and protecting them as part of Haritha Harsam programme. The college correspondent and secretary, Chanda Vijay Kumar flagged off the rally. NSS programme officer Kodimala Srinivas Rao, principal D Raghupathi, staff D Anitha, Bhujender Reddy, B Gopi, and others were present.
