Terror suspects visited Ajmer for explosives: NIA

Hyderabad: Interrogation by the investigators probing the role of terror suspects Ibrahim Yazdani and his brother Iliyas Yazdani revealed that both the accused went to Ajmer in Rajasthan to collect explosives. The National Investigation Agency had arrested the Yazdani brothers along with five others on charges of conspiring to carry out attacks in Hyderabad.

The NIA, during investigation, found that the accused Yazdani brothers had been to Ajmer between June 11 and 14. They stayed at Darbar Palace Hotel in Ajmer to collect explosives from an unknown IS handler, according to sources. During its custody, the NIA had taken Ibrahim and Iliyas to Ajmer to find out places they had visited and also the persons they met during their five-day stay.

“It is found that Ibrahim, the sole contact of the IS handler, had practised firing in the cellar of his house at Chatta Bazaar in Lakkad Kote in Hyderabad. The cellar in Ibrahim’s house in about 200 metres, where he practised firing using microscopic air gun,” NIA sources said. The agency has recorded the statements of the witnesses at the hotels and the places visited by the accused brothers as part of investigation.
