Warangal: In a kind gesture, MLA D Vinay Bhasker gifted Rs 30, 000 to two dalit students, who excelled in their studies.
At a programme held at Mulug cross road auto stand in Hanamkonda on Monday, the MLA presented Rs 15, 000 to an intermediate student, called Hanamkonda Navya.
She was expected to get MBBS seat in Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal as she secured 4,857 rank in EAMCET. She got BDS seat last year but she went for long term coaching, aiming to get MBBS seat.
Amid members of Auto Drivers Union, the MLA has felicitated Navya’s father H Sarangapani, an auto driver and her mother Renuka for ensuring quality education to their daughter despite their financial hardships.
‘This small gesture is aimed at encouraging the student and honouring their parents’ commitment to educate their children,’ he said.
‘I decided to spend my salary in assisting students from poor background and also to ensure support from state government,’ he added.
Vinay Bhasker also presented Rs 15, 000 cash to another dalit student, H Vamshi, who secured 2,653 rank and got admission in IIT, Kerala and felicitated his father Hari Shanker, a vegetable vendor.
The MLA appealed all the auto drivers to send their wards to schools and colleges.
As proper education could make the children shine, irrespective of their economical and social background. Navya and Vamshi stand as an example of the fact, he added.
