Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) would share their experience with each other during phase-II expansion of the HMR.

As a prelude to this mission, HMR Managing Director N V S Reddy invited DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh to Hyderabad on Friday. Both the MDs inspected different routes in Hyderabad city which have the potential of being covered under Metro phase-II expansion. Later they held discussion at the Metro Rail Bhavan.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had advised HMRL authorities to collaborate with DMRC officials and share their expertise for incorporating development plans during phase-II expansion plans of the Metro Rail.

The CM wanted the officials to identify potential Metro Rail phase-II corridors, plugging gaps in Metro Rail phase-I planned by the earlier united AP government by linking corridor-I and corridor-III and extending Metro corridor-III by about 5 km from Nagole to LB Nagar station in corridor-I; extending corridor-III to Shamshabad International Airport from Raidurg, etc., intermodal integration between metro stations, railway terminals, bus terminals and other modes of transport.

The CM also asked officials to suggest appropriate transportation solutions like Metro Rail or other types of public transport for most parts of the city and its outskirts, depending on the density of traffic.

He directed the officials to examine techno-economic feasibility of extending corridor-I (Miyapur-LB Nagar) on both sides towards Patancheru and Hayathnagar.

KCR wanted officials to explore different options to raise financial resources to fund Metro Rail expansion and other modes of public transport. During the meeting, MDs of HMRL and DMRC arrived at a broad understanding to work on the directives issued by the CM and come up with a plan in the next few months.
