Hyderabad: Telangana Congress Committee (TPCC) President N Uttam Kumar Reddy here on Monday lashed out at Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for his belittling comments on the Congress. He regretted that the Chief Minister was talking utter nonsense like an uncultured man.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here, the TPCC chief said people in the State had been comparing the Chief Minister’s style of function to that of Tughlaq and a mad man.

He also alleged that the Chief Minister was distributing the State’s public money among contractors from Andhra Pradesh. “While there is plenty of money for squandering on water grid works, is there no fund for farmers’ loan waiver and fee reimbursement to students,” he asked.

Telangana State has a budget for 2016-17 of Rs 1.30 lakh crore. But, it was strange that the Chief Minister was unable to arrange about Rs. 8,000 crore to clear crop loan waiver dues, Rs 2,000 crore towards fee reimbursement dues and he had no money to clear small payments pertaining to mid-day meal scheme.

“You are approaching all banks to borrow funds for Water Grid project. But you never gave a thought of extricating the farmers from the debt trap," said Uttam Kumar Reddy.

The TPCC chief said while the poor farmers had lost their standing crops due to spurious seeds and unexpected monsoon fury and suffering from neck-deep debts, the Chief Minister splurged money on Bathukamma festival by organising it on a grand scale.

He also demanded that the State government make the Chief Secretary’s report on new districts public. He pointed out that while one district has 40 lakh population, another has merely four lakh people. “Is it the scientific way of creating new districts for better administration?” he asked.

Speaking on the occasion, TPCC working president Bhatti Vikramarka said while the Congress conceded separate Telangana State as its moral responsibility, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi president Chandrashekar Rao was sleeping in his farmhouse and speaking rubbish like an unconscious man.

Earlier, senior leaders Bhatti Vikramarka, K Jana Reddy, Shabbir Ali, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, V Hanumanth Rao and others met in the party office and discussed about the Chief Minister’s outbursts on the other day.
