Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's redressal system has gone for toss since two months as residents across the city complain that civic body call centre (no 040 2111 1111) staff has been not attending calls.

The real reason however is, due to negligence of civic body these call centre staff has been not receiving salaries from October.

GHMC has handed over the call centre project to a private firm HRH Next Services Pvt Ltd in 2013. The corporation has provided required infrastructure (buildings, computers and others) free of cost.

The corporation has been paying Rs 2, 00,000 per month to the firm to pay salaries to its employees. About 20 members have been working in GHMC call centre. The Staff includes managers (two members), technicians (two members) and 15 others to attend the calls.

Violating the Minimum Wage Act, the private firm has been paying Rs 9,502 to the technical staff excluding (EPF and ESI), Rs 5,900 to Rs 6,100 to non-technical staff and Rs 23,368 to the managers.

Highly placed sources in the corporation said that the private firm has been producing bill for 73 member staff. Sources also said that the ground level corporation officials were hand in glove with the private firm and indulging in several irregularities.

However, residents across the city complain that the call centre staff has been neither attending call nor resolving the grievances. They claim that the situation remained unchanged even after taking the matter to GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy.

An advocate from Uppal, requesting anonymity, said that the since he did find not any solution with the GHMC grievance redressal system, he complained about it to GHMC chief. He said that the drainage problems in the area remained unchanged even after registering complaint with the corporation chief.

When queried on the same subject, a senior GHMC official told The Hans India that call centre problem has come to their notice and they have been trying to sort out the problem.

The official also accepted that the call centre staff has been not receiving their salaries since the firm did not submitted the invoices since October. However, the official said that the corporation would hand over the call centre contract to GMR from January.

He also assured that the corporation would hand over the project only after clearing the payments of call centre staff. The official further said that the corporation would pay Rs 3.70 lakh per month to GMR.

He said that the decision was pending with the State government and would likely issue a GO in this regard on December third week.

He said that the GMR would provide 24/7 services and corporation would thoroughly monitor its functioning for at least six months.
