Charminar: Alleging that no proper sanitation work was being undertaken for the past three years in the Charminar area, Local MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri said that only main roads were exception to this trend.
Quadri, who undertook ‘paidal daura’ of several localities under Charminar constituency along with Pathergatti corporator Syed Sohail Quadri and other leaders, said that this part of Old City, particularly the residential areas in Charminar rarely witnessed sanitation work from the concerned wing of GHMC. He said that the localities were touched only once or twice a week by the sanitation workers. “Following Bakrid we have been receiving complaints of garbage piling up from residents of most of the colonies. The new Commissioner was informed about the problems being faced in these areas by residents,” he said.
As part of his paidal daura, he started along with GHMC and waterworks officials from Moghalpura near Fire Station where there was persistent problem with the drainage line. He said that the contractor was asked by officials to complete the works at the earliest. The MLA also visited open drainage in the locality, where desilting was required.
Later, he assured the residents to resolve the problem of water problem in the areas near Masjid Alauddin, near Teen Koni Chaman. He asked the officials to ensure that people of the locality get water regularly by resolving the snags in water pipeline. “Some houses here are getting water regularly, but some others are suffering due to problem in water pipelines. The concerned officials should resolve this problem as soon as possible,” he instructed.
