Dindi (Nalgonda): Farmers along leader of the opposition parties demanded the State government to fill the Dindi project through Kalvankurthi Lift Irrigation project to provide irrigation facility to the project ayacut farmers.

On Friday, Farmers under the leadership of Congress, CPI, CPM, BJP and TDP staged protest on Srisailam-Hyderbad highway in Dindi mandal headquarters. The Opposition parties leaders said that water was at 21 feet in Dindi project at the time release of irrigation water during the starting of Kharif season and now water in the project reached to 10 feet (dead storage level).

Stating that crops are at the middle stage, leaders of opposition demanded the government to save the crops of Dindi project ayacut by filling the project with water on war footing.

Large number of vehicles stranded on the either sides of the road for kilometers and farmers withdrew the agitation after assurance of the local Tahsildhar that water from Dindi project would be released from 16 of this month.
