GHMC gears up to excel in Swachh Survekshan
With just a week left for the Swachh Survekshan2019, which will be held across all Urban Local Bodies from January 4 to 31, GHMC on Thursday requested the HMRL Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited to keep all the public toilets located in metro corridors to be open from 4am to 10pm and also ensure the list of necessary conditions should be in place in all the public toilets
Hyderabad: With just a week left for the Swachh Survekshan-2019, which will be held across all Urban Local Bodies from January 4 to 31, GHMC on Thursday requested the HMRL (Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited) to keep all the public toilets located in metro corridors to be open from 4am to 10pm and also ensure the list of necessary conditions should be in place in all the public toilets as per the guidelines of Swachh Survekshan 2019.
‘Swachh Survekshan 2019’, a survey conducted to rank the cities on various sanitation and cleanliness parameters - was launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) in January 2016, with the intention of enthusing cities with a spirit of healthy competition towards the concept of ‘Swachhata’. This survey will be conducted every year in the month of January between January 4 to 31 in 4379 Urban Local Bodies.
In Swachh Survekshan 2018, GHMC has been awarded as Best Capital City in Solid Waste Management along with 27 rank out of 4041 cities participated. This survey has been conducted by a third-party agency (Karvy Group) appointed by MoHUA. As part of Swachh Survekshan 2019, maintaining the timings of all public toilets from 4am to 10pm along with proper signage’s/direction boards is one of the important indicators, for easy access to citizens to improve toilet usage.
