Hyderabad: Two Hyderabadis who were seriously injured in New Zealand mosque shooting are battling for their lives in hospitals. Grievously Injured in the attack, Ahmed Iqbal Jahangir and Farhaj Ahsan were shifted to a hospital in Christchurch.

According to parents of both the injured, they got information from the neighbours of their children in New Zealand that they are safe now. Since the official information is not coming from New Zealand officials, they are requesting the Telangana government and External Affairs Ministry to provide them immediate Visas so that they can go there and look after the injured.

According to Mohammed Khursheed, brother of Iqbal Jahangir (49), who is residing in JNS Jannah Residency at Rahath Nagar in Amberpet, Iqbal went to New Zealand 15 years ago and since then he is running a restaurant there. Khursheed told that he got information from his brother's neighbours and the officials too by saying that Iqbal and other friends of him seriously injured in a terrorist shoot-out while they were offering prayers at the mosque.

Iqbal was injured seriously as a bullet pierced into his chest and was rushed to a hospital by the local police. He said neighbours of his brother informed them that Iqbal is undergoing surgery and his condition is stable. Kursheed and his family members urged AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi to help them in the process of getting Visas as soon as possible.

Owaisi tweeted to Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao about the incident. The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president requested Sushma Swaraj and Telangana CM to make necessary arrangements for Khursheed's travel to New Zealand. TRS working president K T Rama Rao said he would request NRI department to help the family.

MIM MLC Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi had visited victims' home in Amberpet on Friday evening. GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin visited the residence of Farhaj Ahsan (30) at Yans Residency in Nadeem Colony in Tolichowki and met his father Mohammed Sayeeduddin and assured all help from the government.
