Warangal: Three women workers sustained grievous injuries in a fire mishap at a chemical factory at the Industrial Estate in Rampur, on the suburbs of the city on Thursday. Initial reports suggest that fire erupted in Vajra Matrix Abrasives and Tools after a blast in the factory.

The injured were identified as Priyanka (28), a resident of Madikonda, Naini Swaroopa (35) and Naini Rajitha (32) of Rampur village.

Priyanka who was severely injured was shifted to MGM Hospital and later to Hyderabad. It's learnt that she suffered 75 per cent burns to her body. While the other two - Swaroopa and Rajitha - are being treated at a private hospital in Subedari, Hanamkonda.

Swaroopa lost her right leg.

According to Madikonda Inspector Jani Narasimhulu, the blast occurred in the chemical unit and it led to fire mishap. There were five persons in the factory when the accident took place.

The police are yet ascertaining the reasons behind the blast. The police said that they will send remains of chemical substances to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, the Kazipet ACP K Narsinga Rao visited the mishap site and took stock of the situation.
