In the first case, three people identified as Karthik, Ravinder, Pradeep had gone to Godavari river near Lenkalagadda of Palimela Mandal of Jayashankar-Bhupalapally district. The trio was swept by the speeding water and drowned later. The police registered a case and are fishing out the bodies.
In another incident, a 20-year-old man identified as Srisailam, a native of Pothawada of Mahadevapur Mandal had gone for a bath in the river and drowned.
People thronged to the river ghats in the early hours on Wednesday on the occasion of Tholi Ekadashi. Meanwhile, the police and municipal officials closed Krishna river ghat at the Nagarjuna Sagar to prevent the people from taking bath in the view of the coronavirus outbreak.
