Both the groups attacked each other by throwing bombs (used for fish hunting) and with stones and beer bottles. According to sources, the leaders of both TRS and Congress have been competing to get upper hand in Nayakuni Thanda for the last few months.

Recently, Congress party got majority in recent Assembly elections and Congress-supported candidate won the Sarpanch election in the Thanda.

On April 13 (Saturday) Meravath Bikshalu of Congress party and Meravath Swamy of TRS went to attend a function at Safavath Thanda. During their interaction, Bikshalu and Swamy got into an argurment. Feeling insulted, Swamy informed his son, Dasru, about the entire episode.

Expressing his angry, on Sunday night, Dasru entered into argument with Bikshalu and soon led to clash. Within no time supporters of the two started attacking each other by pelting stones and beer bottles and damaged the furniture by entering into houses of rival groups.

In this street fight, as many as 40 houses were damaged. Taking the advantage of the clash, a few anti-social elements of the Thanda threw bombs (used for fishing) to terrify the people.

In the attack, Dasli and Meravath Somla suffered severe injuries and were shifted to hospital for treatment.

Police, after receiving the information, rushed to the Thanda and controlled the situation by pacifying both parties. SI Kurmaiah filed cases on both groups and took up the investigation.
