Hyderabad: Asaduddin Owaisi AIMIM president on Monday insisted Muslims to introspect as to where their vote was going, specifically when the Congress has become politically weak in the country.

He said, "It is high time the Muslim community gave serious thought as to where their vote is going," further adding that the Congress has become weak.

Owaisi's party acquired the Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat and gathered huge votes in Kishanganj parliamentary seat. He has won the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat for the fourth time, attacking the Congress said the credit for AICC president Rahul Gandhi's victory in Wayanad Lok Sabha seat goes exclusively to Muslims. "He lost in Amethi and won in Wayanad. It is also a fact that 45% of the electorate in Kerala's Wayanad are Muslims," Owaisi said.

"You (Muslims and other minorities) do not want to leave Congress and other secular parties. But, remember they do not have the strength or wherewithal to fulfil people's aspirations," he said.

Owaisi further added that the Congress has bagged votes in the name of secularism as Muslims voted for it, weeks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had quipped that Gandhi picked Wayanad, because of more minority voters. Owaisi alleged only regional parties have the potential to defeat BJP.

He insisted, "Had the regional parties not made their presence felt in south India in the May 23 Lok Sabha election results, the saffron party could have made a clean sweep here as well."
