Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao stated that his government was taking decisions on implementation of Central schemes after thorough review and understanding.

He said only those Central schemes which are really helpful to people are being implemented in the State. Further, he said his government was not interested in wasting public money on programmes that are not beneficial to the people.

To drive his point home, the Chief Minister drew a comparison between the Aarogyasri scheme implemented in Telangana and Ayushman Bharat, the health insurance scheme introduced by the NDA government.

Under Aarogyasri, the Telangana government is spending Rs 1,336 crore per year benefitting 85.34 lakh families in the State.

"If Centre's Ayushman Bharat scheme is implemented, the State would provide medical benefits only to the extent of Rs 250 crore per year benefitting only 26 lakh families.

Through Aarogyasri, the government is extending services relating to organ transplants free of cost. This facility is not available under Ayushman Bharat.

Since Aarogyasri is far better than Ayushman Bharat in several ways, we have decided not to implement Ayushman Bharat scheme," the Chief Minister stressed.
