Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on Friday released a short film starring actress Sindhu Sangam, anchor Varshini and a few others, to create awareness among the public on OLX scams
Ranga Reddy: Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on Friday released a short film starring actress Sindhu Sangam, anchor Varshini and a few others, to create awareness among the public on OLX scams.
On this occasion, the CP appreciated Varshini, Sindhu Sangam, the short film concept, director and editor Haima.
Sajjanar later said that people should be vigilant on OLX scams. Cyber criminals are turning online portals that sell second-hand goods into a haven for illicit earnings.
The cyber criminals are advertising themselves as government employees, army officers and are committing scams making people believe that they will sell cheap cars and electronics, he said. The CP also said that while some are complaining, many are not coming forward to lodge complaints about such scams.
VC Sajjanar then advised people to not believe the advertisements on social media platforms without practically seeing the object. Further asking people not to pay before the item is delivered, he said that people should realise that paying money through QR code is a fraud and one should examine all the documents personally.
