Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (CAMPA), Lokesh Jaiswal made a presentation of a snapshot analysis of Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) activities taken up in Gajwel-Mulugu Landscape of Siddipet District at the XXV World Congress of International Union of Forest Research Organisations (IUFRO), held at Curitiba in Brazil.

Hyderabad: Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (CAMPA), Lokesh Jaiswal made a presentation of a snapshot analysis of Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) activities taken up in Gajwel-Mulugu Landscape of Siddipet District at the XXV World Congress of International Union of Forest Research Organisations (IUFRO), held at Curitiba in Brazil.

The Forest department in a statement on Thursday said that the presentation was made at the "Forest Landscape Restoration Implementation–Progress on the Ground" a side event organised by IUFRO to showcase the observations and lessons learnt in FLR works from selected forest landscapes of nine Bonn Challenge countries.

They include Brazil, Guatemala, Peru, Ethiopia, Ghana, Madagascar, India, Mongolia and Bangladesh.

Highlighting how the forest areas in the State have been degraded over time and the measures were taken after the formation of Telangana, Jaiswal presented a video on FLR activities and e-poster was also shown followed by a question and answer session.

The Additional PCCF highlighted how a strong political will of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao helped in bringing all the stakeholders on board and making the State's flagship programme Telangana Ku Haritha Haram to increase the forest cover to 33 per cent.
