Malakpet: In view of the upcoming Islamic months Shaban and Ramzan, AIMIM party leader along with GHMC officials reviewed arrangements and geared up to ensure that the all civic works were completed beforehand.

On the instructions of Malakpet MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala, party leader Mohammed Saifuddin Shafi (who represents the old Malakpet division corporator Juweria Fatima) along with GHMC AE Syed Jameel and work inspector N Satyanarayana inspected the graveyards and mosques in old Malakpet division on Thursday. Speaking to The Hans India Shafi said that as the Shaban would start within a month in which Shab-e-Meraj and Shab-e-Barat (Muslims believe that on this night, God writes the destinies of all men, for the coming year and most visit graveyards of deceased family members) are observed by devout by staying awake throughout the night while praying.

"To oversee the arrangements, we have visited Osmania Masjid graveyard, Idara Milia Masjid and Padma Nagar's graveyard in Old Malakpet. During the visit we inspected the graveyards and its surrounding areas and instructed the officers for cleaning of graveyards," said Shafi.

He said that the cleaning works include, clearing the pathways by trimming and reshaping trees, restoration of boundary walls and whitewashing etc. "In graveyards we also decided to install the streetlights to avoid inconvenience for the people visiting graveyards. The works will start within 10 days and shall be completed within a month," he added.

Shafi also said that as Shaban follows the Ramzan in April, they have also visited several mosques in Old Malakpet and undertook estimate for the works.

This would ensure that the devout does not face inconvenience at mosques during special prayers. He said the works includes the cleaning of mosques surroundings, footpaths near mosques, repairing damaged roads etc. "The estimates were taken and the works would be sanctioned at the earliest," he added.
