Hyderabad: Health Minister Eatala Rajendar on Friday said striking junior doctors withdrew their protests in the State, while the medicos across the country were protesting against the National Medical Council Bill formed by the Centre.

Rajendar said he has spoken with Union Health Minister Harsha Vardhan and pleaded with him to safeguard the interests of the doctors and those in medical professions.

He also said the Centre was ready to take suggestions and inputs from other States with regard to protecting the interests of doctors and medical professionals.

"We informed the junior doctors about the version of the Centre that their interests will be protected," Rajendar said.

On this, the government held discussions with the protesting doctors and assured them all help, he said.

As a result, the junior doctors have called off their protest and resumed duties, the Minister said.

The State government's efforts gave positive result as health services to poor should not be affected, he said.

He extended thanks to the doctors for resuming duties by withdrawing their protests.
