Kodad (Suryapet): The Kodad police arrested two persons in connection with sale and supply of banned gutka products and seized Rs 70,000 worth Gutka packets besides two bikes from their possession.

According to town CI U Srinivas Reddy, on a reliable information, along with SI Kranthi Kumar and staff, they took Md Athikul Rahaman, who was running a pan shop in Kodad into their custody when was found selling banned gutka products. The police seized Rs 2,000 worth gutka packets from his possession.

Based on information shared by the arrested, the police raided the house of local gutka supplier Khayyum and seized Rs 70,000 worth gutka packets from his possession.

During the police interrogation, Khayyum informed that he was procuring the gutka from Bidar of neighbouring Karnataka at a cheaper rates and getting profits by selling them at pan shops in the town.

Kodad police filed cases against the duo. Circle Inspector Srinivas Reddy warned of taking stringent action against gutka sellers and suppliers as per the law.
