Kalwakurthy: With campaign for segregation of wet and dry garbage by people before it was picked up by the sanitary workers not showing much impact, the Government is now contemplating to issue instructions to the sanitary staff not to pick up the garbage from the doorsteps of people if it was not segregated before disposal.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao said it was the time to replicate the Sircilla model. He said in Sircilla municipality, dry and wet waste was separated in the houses before disposal and it had helped the authorities in earning considerable amount of money.

KTR made this observation when he participated in various developmental activities, including laying of underground drainage network, Sewage Treatment Plant, roads and a park at a cost of Rs 48.2 crores in Devarkonda and Kalwakurthy towns on Monday. He also took up a padayatra and inspected sanitation, drinking water supply lines, greenery and other facilities in Devarakonda town.

Emphasising on the need for making towns neat and clean, he called upon the elected representatives to ensure that development takes place without any discrimination. He said the elected representatives should win the hearts of the people by their work. Only then, it would be possible for the party to continue to win all the future elections as well. The Minister inaugurated a 32/11 KV sub-station in Kalwakurthy and addressed the councillors, ward officials and ward committee members.
