Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao has admitted that the number of food safety officers to monitor all food establishments in Telangana State in general and particularly in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is inadequate.

Hyderabad, Sept 16 (INN): Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao has admitted that the number of food safety officers to monitor all food establishments in Telangana State in general and particularly in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is inadequate.

In his reply to a question raised by MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi and others during Question Hour in Legislative Assembly, the Minister said that there was no impact of shortage of manpower and insufficient lab facilities on regular inspection of food items. He said all necessary steps were being taken up for regular analysis of food samples on inspection of food establishments with the available staff and existing lab facilities. Further, he said that the State Government has issued orders for filling up of 26 Posts of Food Inspectors for GHMC through Telangana State Public Service Commission, Hyderabad and the recruitment is under process.
