Basheerabad: Official apathy kept the pensioners like old age persons waiting unnecessarily and disappointed for hours at panchayat office in Korviched village on Thursday. The official who was to disburse pension told the waiting pensioners that he would be back in an hour.
However, they were made to wait from 10 am to 4 pm with a hope that the officer concerned would return. But the official did not come back leaving the people to the wind. They waited the whole day without going for food or water.
They said the festival (Dasara) went by without single paisa in hand. "We celebrated the festival by taking loans from others," they lamented. The pensioners appealed higher authorities to see that their monthly pension be disbursed without any hassle.
