Mahbubnagar: With the recent arrest of an Assam resident, who is allegedly involved in a number of burglaries, thefts and cheating cases in various parts of Mahbubnagar district, Superintendent of Police Rema Rajeshwari on Tuesday alerted people not to employ outsiders or rent them houses without doing background checks.
The Mahbubnagar police had recently arrested a man, who hailed from Assam, on charge of committing burglary, thefts and involving in cheating cases in Jadcherla and Mahbubnagar. The police claimed to have recovered from the suspect the gold and other valuables worth Rs 1.62 lakh.
According to Superintendent of Police Rema Rajeshwari, the accused Keshab Medhi (25) is a resident of Assam State. He had migrated to Mahbubnagar to work in Pharma SEZ. He worked at Hetero Pharmacy at Polepally and later in Salasar balaji Textiles at Gollapally village.
He was involved in the theft of copper wires from the company and was arreted. However, after coming out of jail on bail, he committed burgalries, she said. The police had finally managed to arrest the person and send him to judicial remand, she said.
The SP cautioned the people and the managements of the companies to verify the background of candidates before employing them. It is estimated that in Jadcherla alone, more than 1,000 persons from other States like UP, Bihar, Odisha, etc were working in Pharma SEZ and other industries.
"In order to prevent property offences being committed in the district, community support is crucial, we have taken up Safe Mahabubnagar Campaign with a view to receive valuable suggestions from the citizens on anti-social elements and to map crime prone areas," said Rema Rajeshwari while addressing the media.
"We have been taking up various security measures and conducting cordon and search operation, tenant verification etc. Our goal is to enhance sense of safety and security by preventing outsider unsocial elements disturbing peace and safety in the local communities," said the SP.
At present Mahbubnagar district is having a sizeable number of labourers and workers working who hail from other State were working in various factories and irrigation projects in the district.
A rough preliminary assessment showed that around 550 were working in Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Jadcherla and 500 were employed in various labour activities, most of them from Bihar, UP and Orissa.
In Midjil area, close to 120 workers are employed from Jharkhand, 80 from MP, 90 from Orissa, 30 from UP in various Project works in Rainipet village and Sneha hatcheries in Boinpally.
In Devarakhadra, Hanwada, Mohammedabad, Koilkonda, Mahbubnagar rural and town areas, many workers from UP and Bihar were employed in solar plants, rice mills, brick Kilns, cotton mills and even in cow sheds. Addakal mandal.
There were at least 1,500 workers from Assam, West Bengal, Orissa, Maharashtra and Bihar, most are working in Sneha chicken processing unit, Pragathi Spinning mill, Venkateshwara hatcheries, Aditi fencing works, Srinivasa Spinning mill etc, the SP said.
