Patancheru: Ramachandrapuram GHMC Deputy Commissioner Balayya on Monday held a review meeting under the auspices of the vending committee with officials of various departments on steps to shift petty traders operating from footpaths in Ramachandrapuram, Bharatinagar and Patancheru circles.

Efforts are on to divide the traders on zonal basis so as to enable them to continue with their business activities, said Balayya. The aim of the exercise, he stated, was to shift those traders hampering normal life in the three towns to another place. They would be divided into red, green and amber (yellow) zones.

Trade in the red zone would be prohibited, with a provision that they would be barred from taking up any activity; in green zone trade would be allowed daily in areas decided by GHMC committee; in yellow zone trade would be permitted only during festival days and special occasions, explained Balayya.

He said the committee on the zones would finalise the procedure within a week and submit a report to the higher-ups.

Among those present at the meeting were Town Planning ACP Srihari, Project Officer Punyavati, police CIs Naresh, Ramesh, Hyderabad Traffic CI Narsimha Rao, Patancheru Traffic SI Ramulu, Petty Traders' Samaikya members S K Yousuf, Dhanalakshmi and Satyanaryana.
