Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Sounderarajan is said to have sought details of the TSRTC strike and the spate of attacks on Revenue officials during the two and half hour long meeting she had with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at Raj Bhavan on Monday.

This was the first official meeting between the Governor and the Chief Minister on matters of governance. Sources said that the Governor expressed concern over the spate of suicides and death of RTC employees that had taken place during the 52-day strike.

She expressed concern over the incidents of attacks on the Revenue officials, particularly the brutal murder of Abdullapurmet Tahsildar Vijaya Reddy by a realtor in her office premises.

The Chief Minister is said to have explained to her in detail about the efforts made by the government to convince the RTC JAC before the workers had gone on strike on September 5.

He told her that despite all-out efforts by the government to deliberate on their demands and giving them two opportunities to re-join work, the employees who were misguided by the union leaders supported by Opposition parties continued with their strike causing hardship to the people and huge loss to the corporation.

The Chief Minister told her that his government was following the directions of the High Court and would wait for the outcome of the decision of the Labour Court where the matter was pending.

KCR also informed the Governor about the purpose of its proposal to bring in new Revenue Act. It will help address the grievances of the farmers on a permanent basis.

He also told her that the police have been deployed at all revenue offices to prevent any attacks on the staff.
