Seminar to pay tribute to Pt. Harichand Akhtar at MANUU

Hyderabad: Two-day national seminar dedicated to an unsung hero of Urdu poetry and journalism Pt. Harichand Akhtar is scheduled to be held on 30th and 31st October at Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad.
The seminar is organised by IDEA Communication and Majlis Fakhre Bahrain in collaboration with MANUU. Around 35 academics of reputed institutions and Hindi-Urdu scholars will participate and present their research papers. Some of the top names are Prof Shafey Kidwai (AMU), Prof Jitendra Srivastava (IGNOU), Prof Khwaja Ekramuddin (JNU), Prof Nasimuddin Farees (MANUU), Prof Khalid Qadri and Prof R S Sarraju (Central University of Hyderabad), Prof. Farooq Bakhshi (MANUU), Dr Karan Singh Utwal (MANUU), Dr. Abhishek Raushan (FFLU), Dr. Pankaj Prashar (AMU), Dr. Aquil Ahamd (Ghalib Academy, Delhi), Mr. Suhail Anjum (Voice of America), Dr. Syed Mahmood Kazmi (MANUU), Dr. Mosrat Jahan (MANUU), Dr. Bi Bi Raza Khatoon (MANUU), Mrs. Shaista Yusuf (Bazme Niswan, Bangalore), Dr. Mohd Akhtar (BHU), Dr. Khalid Mubashahir (Jamia Millia) and many more. Three renowned figures will also be honoured during the seminar for their contributions to the promotion of Urdu and national integration.
According to Asif Azmi, Director, IDEAC, this seminar is part of an annual series of felicitating some Indian literary figure with a national seminar in India and international mushaira in Bahrain. So far, we have dedicated these literary activities to Firaq, A N Mulla, Chakbast, Khalilur Rahman Azmi, Sheheryar, Irfan Siddiqui and Majoorh Sultanpuri. Anis Azmi, Chief Consultant, Centre for Urdu Culture Studies, MANUU is Convenor of the seminar. Participants will be given a Certificate of Participation.
