Hyderabad: The LB Nagar Special Operation Team (SOT) along with local police on Monday arrested two fraudsters on charges of allegedly cheating parents and students under the guise of providing MBBS seats in management quota.

The police seized net cash of Rs 9.45 lakh, a car all worth Rs 15.5 lakh from the possession of the accused. According to police, both the accused Arige Venkata Ramaiah (40, lecturer) and Yaga Sravani (27, receptionist) cheated the students in the guise of providing medical seats in management quota in reputed medical colleges in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Accused Venkata Ramaiah completed his post-graduation in Physics and worked as a lecturer in a Corporate college for BiPC stream for few years after that he started one institute under the name AVR institute for NEET students at LB Nagar.

He used to assure the parents of the students and after due consultation with medical colleges he used to collect the fees amounts as well as donations. The accused collected the amount in lump sum and assured college managements that he would pay the annual fee in instalments.

He used to pay the 1st term fees at the time of joining and later avoid the payment, thereby cheating the parents and students.

Based on the complainant of one G Paramesh Chary in which he stated that the accused developed friendship with him and later took advance amount of Rs 17 lakh for creating DD on the name of students.

The complainant also stated that the accused further took an amount of Rs 1.40 crore from his connections Naresh, Vamshi, Satyanarayana and cheated them by not providing them MBBS seats.

On credible information police apprehended the accused at his house in Shivaganga colony in LB Nagar and recovered the property from his possession.
