A few days earlier, the YCRCP government made it clear that their government had no intention to shift the capital for Amaravati. However, CM Jagan's government is rethinking many decisions taken by the previous government in relation to capital.

The AP government has decided to review the lease agreements of public offices in the capital. Officials reviewed rents currently paid to the buildings which are above-market prices. From March 1, 2016, the Department of General Administration has been collecting the details of rents paid to private buildings. The previous govt has fixed the price if Rs 20 per square foot as rent in 2016.

In special cases, the square foot rent is decided at Rs. 30. However, government departments and HODs have been ordered to take appropriate action in case of rent-charged above the market prices. The AP government has demanded that the Ministry of Finance and Highways not to pay rent in excess of the stipulated amount. The department has received information from the government on rented buildings in Vijayawada and Guntur range. The government has made it clear that the orders of rents should be implemented immediately
