Today marks Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's debut in presenting the budget for India, 2019.
2019:: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting her maiden budget in Parliament today. She announced that the Union Budget 2019 is aims 'mazboot desh ke liye mazboot nagrik' (For s strong nation, the citizens need to be strong). Considering India's slowing economic growth, Nirmala Sitharaman faces challenges in the form of a rising fiscal deficit and low tax collections.
Among the promises made, India is set to be open-defecation free by October 2, 2019. the focus is also on startups and making 'Mission Study India' a scheme to bring in foreign students to study in India. Power and furl for every citizen is promised by 2020.
