Begum Bazar: Minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Monday inspected the on-going works at Begum Bazar Fish Market, along with the officials of Fisheries Department and GHMC.

The development works of the modern market at existing fish market at Begum Bazar with an estimated cost of Rs 5.25 crore being undertaken, in coordination with the GHMC and National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), was examined by the minister.

During the visit, he was briefed by the officials about the progress of the works. He instructed the officials to complete the works at the earliest. He said that the fish market, established in the times of Nizam, has its own identity and history.

It has to be developed with all the modern amenities by the funds provided by the NFDB, he said, and added that keeping in mind the increased demand for the market, the market would now serve as a business point for 300 fishermen, along with the basic amenities to all the customers who visit the market. The minister said that the state government is not only increasing the scope of fisheries department, but also has a vision for the welfare of the fishermen.

The Minister was accompanied by Fisheries Commissioner C Suvarna, GHMC Zonal Commissioner for Central Musharaf Ali, local Corporator G Shankar Yadav and other officials were present on the occasion.
