Yakutpura: The works of replacing the existing old CI trunk pipeline supply drinking water, with modern MS (Mild Steel) pipeline across the Yakutpura nala remains pending for the past 3 years. Local corporator who took up the matter with Hyderabad MP, Asaduddin Owaisi on several occasions, has put the onus of delay on the local officials of the HMWSSB.

The existing CI trunk pipe was laid a few decades back a few feet over the Yakutpura nala running parallel to the bridge. Whenever the nala overflows, the pipeline is submerged contaminating drinking water and also the flowing wastage gets struck on the pipeline and its pillars thereby choking the nala.

Corporator informed that following successful representation of Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, the works of shifting 600 mm CI truck main by 600 mm MS pipeline works were sanctioned by the authorities, in September 2016 and an amount of Rs 22.35 lakh were also allocated.

"Even though works were started, they remain pending ever since, as the HMWSSB area General Manager (GM) appear to be not interested in completing the works," said Talabchanchalam division corporator Nasreen Sultana.

Speaking to The Hans India Nasreen Sultana said that in these three years only a 'pipeline-bridge' was constructed and pipe remains lying there unattended and works remain pending. The pending works has only impacted the flow of the nala and choking has prompted the overflow in nearby manholes, causing inundation.

She explained that if the works were completed and new pipeline was laid across the nala, there would be no more choking and even the nearby houses would get clean drinking water.

"The HMWSSB has already claimed the bill amount to the tune of several lakhs of rupees, but not even half of the work has been completed. During recent inspection of Hyderabad MP along with GHMC Commissioner and area MLA, the officials were instructed to take up the works immediately and to complete it at the earliest, but the water work officials didn't pay heed to instructions made by the higher authorities," she added.
