Visakhapatnam: The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials began probe into the links between tainted sub-registrar of Maduravada N Ananda Kumar and rowdy- sheeters of the area.

The ACB official on Tuesday registered a case against Anand Kumar for amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of his income with alleged support from a few rowdy-sheeters.

The teams led by DSP (Visakha Urban) K Ramakrishna Prasad has been conducting raids on the premises of Anand Kumar and his relatives and the preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused owned a four-storeyed house at Lawson’s Bay Colony worth Rs 2.5 crore, one house registered under his brother’s name at Sagarnagar worth about Rs 1 crore and a farm house of 85 cents on Bheemili Beach Road worth about Rs 1 crore.

On Wednesday, the ACB officials seized two more cars and the raids were still going on. Sources said that the tainted officer has amassed about Rs 50 crore and Anand Kumar was now under the control of the ACB officials.

Sources in the ACB said Anand Kumar was well connected and has blessings of senior officials in the State. He was appointed as a sub-registrar three years ago in Madhurawada which is the centre for real estate business for coastal Andhra. All the major IT companies are located there and some tourism projects are also coming there jacking up the land prices. Most of the land grabbers were also arrested in that area during last three months.
