In recognition of its best and quality performance, the APGENCO has secured an award of ‘Pride of India’ with a gold medal by the Institute of Economic Studies, New Delhi at a function held in Goa recently. The award was presented by the Governor of Haryana and Punjab Kaptan Singh Solanki to the Chairman and Managing Director of APGENCO K Vijayanand.  

Visakhapatnam: In recognition of its best and quality performance, the APGENCO has secured an award of ‘Pride of India’ with a gold medal by the Institute of Economic Studies, New Delhi at a function held in Goa recently. The award was presented by the Governor of Haryana and Punjab Kaptan Singh Solanki to the Chairman and Managing Director of APGENCO K Vijayanand.

Both important power sectors of Andhra Pradesh-APTRANSCO and APGENCO headed by Vijayanand have excelled in the operational performance to help implement 24X7 power supply programme, the prime objective of the State government. Chief Executive Officer of AP State Energy Conservation Mission A Chandra Sekhara Reddy said that 2X800 MW Super Critical Thermal units were commissioned first of its kind in the State power sector in the country at Krishnapatnam, Nellore district.

He said that APGENCO existing units are functioning with more than 80 per cent Plant Load Factor, higher than the NTPC and continuously winning Enertia and Annual Green Tech Environment awards. The key factors contributing for its excellence include reducing Station Heat Rate (SHR) by adopting super critical technology techniques in constructing boilers, improving of Plant Load Factor (PLF) and implementation of cost-effective measures.

During the award presentation function, Vijayanand made a PowerPoint presentation on the overall performance of AP Power Utilities particularly APGENCO and revealed that the APGENCO has taken up a gigantic capacity addition plan of adding 11,210 MW in the next 10 years with a total estimated cost of Rs 64,182 crore.
