Visakhapatnam: US Consulate General, Hyderabad, and GITAM University jointly organised an awareness programme on the US visa procedures here on Wednesday at GITAM University campus.

Vice-Consul from US Consulate Jose Maria Vega and Education Adviser Sraavani Pere and others interacted with the students. While addressing the students Vice-Consul Jose Maria Vega informed that the students who wanted to persue higher education in the US must plan 18 months before the visa interview particularly to clearly understand the procedures and how to submit the related documents to consulate office. He said that most of the students are attending interviews without proper basic knowledge and failing to get visas.

He advised that the student community can easily get visa if they understand clearly and answer the questions in interview. The other officials briefed how to choose good universities in the US for higher education and changing trends in the US education sector.

GITAM Institute of Technology principal Prof K Lakshmiprasad briefed that the university is having academic and research tie ups with the US universities which will benefit the students to reduce the fee structure.
