Bring a shape to Amaravati by year-end, AP CM tells CRDA

Amaravati: Enthused with the global recognition of Amaravati as the emerging economic power house and lucrative destination for global investors, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu instructed Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) to accelerate the construction activity as several global investors are at the doorstep of Amaravati to invest in the capital city.

The Chief Minister, who is going to participate in World Cities Summit Mayors Forum (WCSMF) in Singapore, held a teleconference with APCRDA and Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) officials on Friday and elaborated on quickly adopting the six-pronged strategy to accelerate the capital construction.

Naidu said that as the greenfield capital city Amaravati has already generated unprecedented interest among the global investors, there are huge investment commitments from international corporates across industries like IT, education, energy, medical institutes, and tourism, etc., which would create wide range of opportunities encompassing all sectors in Amaravati in particular and entire state in general.

“As Amaravati is set to be a land for never-ending opportunities, the potential of economic development in the capital city will benefit entire state in all fronts,” he said. The Chief Minister stressed the need for bringing a better shape to Amaravati by December through Effective Project Management (EPM) and weekly progress reviews.

He also said the developmental activities should have greater transparency, visibility and accountability on the part of contractors with no compromise in maintaining quality and time schedules. “Any deviation will be viewed seriously, ultimately we are responsible to the people,” the Chief Minister said. As part of six-pronged formula, Chandrababu Naidu wanted to involve farmers who gave lands to capital city as partners for developing public partnership.

He also told officials to adopt happiness as corner stone for urban planning, design and other development guidelines and take cooperation of global partners. The Chief Minister said the capital city should be sustainable and efficient and have to make it as innovation valley to host a rich knowledge eco system with top universities and high productivity.

Naidu suggested that the help of global partners should be taken to set up top class assets for businesses, tourists and the citizens. He also said that digitalisation is another key to create smart city infrastructure solutions by redefining urban governance with State-of-the art technology, Internet of Things (IOT), city data platforms and citizen-centric services.

During the teleconference, officials said that it is aimed to create 1.8 million jobs by 2050 in capital region. The revenue to government due to taxes is estimated between Rs 8,000 crore and Rs 10,000 crore per annum and cumulative contribution to the GSDP Rs 1.15 lakh crore.

Principal Secretary to Energy, I&I and APCRDA, Ajay Jain, said that the Chief Minister would be delivering the keynote speech on potential investment opportunities for the State of Andhra Pradesh.
