Vijayawada: As many as 11 women contract lecturers of government colleges observed a 36-hour hunger strike, demanding that the government implement their demands like time scale, job security and 12 months’ salary at Dharna Chowk here on Monday.
A large number of women contract lecturers participated in the strike in support of the lecturers. They demanded that the government implement the MLC committee recommendations which would benefit the contract lecturers.
MLC Boddu Nageswara Rao expressed his solidarity to the contract lecturers who were on hunger strike. Contract Lecturers Association president K Srinivas Yadav said they would intensify their protest, if the government ignored their demands.
