Amaravati: Only 1,64,613 unemployed youth got benefits under MukyamantriYuvanestam scheme out of the eligible 2,56,636 in the state, officials revealed in a review meeting held by Youth and Sports Minister Kollu Ravindra and Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj Nara Lokesh at Secretariat here on Tuesday.

The scheme was rolled out on October 2 by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu with much hype by promising to deposit Rs 1000 on each eligible youth account by October 4 or 5. But, the officials concerned failed in fulfilling the promise, revealed the data released during the review meeting.

Further, officials informed that they have received 1,03,441 grievances and out of them about 73 percent solved. Still, more than 38,700 grievances are in pending with the department, marking more than 27 percent. On the other hand, the portal of scheme showed that 7,89,952 youth applied for benefits by Tuesday evening.
