Rajamahendravaram: Thousands of devotees took a holy dip in River Godavari in connection with Karthika Somavaram coincided with auspicious Ekadasi. All the nine bathing ghats in the city were crowded with the people and the women offered Harathi to River Godavari and released Harathi on banana leaves.
Meanwhile, serpentine queues were found at Shivate tempes such as Uma Markandeya Swamy temple, Uma Kotilingeswara Swamy Temple, Visweswara Swamy Temple, Veereswara Swamy Temple, Sarangadhareswara Swamy Temple, Veereswara Swamy Temple etc. Abhishekams and special poojas were performed in all the temples.
The respective managements of the temples made arrangements for hassle-free darshan at the temples. Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation arranged necessary lighting, drinking water at the ghats and also arranged dress changing rooms for women.
Bhimeswara Swamy Temple at Draksharama, Chaya Someswara Swamy Temple at Kotipalli, Kumara Bhimeswara Swamy Temple at Samalkot, Vireswara Swamy Temple at Muramalla, Baneswara Swamy Temple at Banapuram etc also crowded with devotees.
