Vijayawada: APCC Executive Committee meeting, which was held here on Thursday, has decided to finalise the list of candidates by February to contest in the forthcoming elections. The applications would be received from the aspirants soon.
The meeting has also taken decision to conduct Pratyeka Hoda Bharosa Yatra in all the 25 Parliament constituencies in the State. Party AP affairs in-charge Oommen Chandy said that the people of the country were vexed with the rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He directed the rank and file of the party to undertake publicity on large scale regarding the Congress promise over special category status. He said that the election notification would come in the first week of March and there is only 90 days’ time for elections.
The applications would be collected and the list would be sent to All India Congress Committee (AICC) to finalise the list, he said. The party State in-charge said that SC, ST, Minority and women would be given priority in the allotment of tickets. The manifesto committee would be appointed soon to meet the voters and to explain the voice of Congress, he said.
AP Congress Committee president N Raghuveera Reddy said that the Pratyeka Hoda Bharosa Yatra would cover all the 25 Parliament seats in the State. The party would organise public meetings at every Parliament constituency in the State as part of yatra, he said.
The special status would become reality only with Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, he said and asked the rank and file of the party to make publicity in this regard. He said that the people of the country extended support to Rahul Gandhi and Congress in the recent elections.
He said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu supported Rahul Gandhi’s leadership and the Congress would fight tooth and nail against the BJP to prevent it from coming to power again.
Party leaders Meyyappan, Christopher Tilak, Koppula Raju, JD Seelam, Masthan Vali, Pallam Raju, Panabaka Lakshmi, Killi Krupa Rani, Kanumuri Bapi Raju, Dronamraju Srinivas, Tulasi Reddy, J Goutam, SN Raja and other leaders were also present.
