Chittoor: The Samaiky-andhra movement is on a fast track in the district and is showing no signs of abating even on the 38th day on Saturday. With the buses of the APSRTC confined to the depots, transport in the district has come to a standstill. On Saturday, protest demonstrations were held at several places and the government offices wore a deserted look as employees left for Hyderabad to participate in the ‘Save Andhra Pradesh’ rally.
The supporters of Samaikyandhra and employees of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) broke 1008 coconuts at Alipiri praying for the success of the Save Andhra Rally. They conducted special puja on the occasion. A large number of students under the Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samithi (SAP) conduced a huge rally in the city after washing the Telugu Talli statue with milk. In Nendragunta, students squatted on the road and blocked the roads leading to traffic disruptions on the route to Tirupati.
An all-party team organized a motor cycle rally in the temple town of Srikalahasti. Lawyers held protest rallies against the attack on Seemandhra lawyers in Hyderabad. There were relay hunger strikes in several places.
