Sainikpuri: The residents of Sainikpuri are vexed with the delay in reopening of the shopping complex that received a nod from the government in the year 1999. With many residential houses and apartments, the construction of the shopping complex was anticipated with great deal of enthusiasm by locals but their hope seems to have vanished in thin air.

Col Raju, a retired officer and resident of Sainikpuri says, “It is more than one-and-a-half decades now and people have almost given up hope. The population increased muti-fold and a shopping complex is the need of the hour.” Shyamala, a software employee from Vayupuri said, “We are waiting for its opening so that it relieves us from travelling to Dr A S Rao Nagar. We are not informed about its status and yet there is no sign of opening the building anytime soon.”

In the meanwhile, few other locals have no understanding that what for the building was constructed and assume that it is a Municipal Office. “It is not a shopping complex and claims it to be a Municipal office,” said a roadside fruit vendor. On the other side, the delay in its inauguration is turning the portion of land into a dump yard where in the roadside vendors like fruit sellers, tiffin centers etc; throw the left over waste at the end of the day. When contacted, valuation officer of Kapra Municipality, Surender Goud said,” It is not possible to tell exact date of opening. Bidders did not turn up to the venue on 2016-17. It is now under process.”
