US Vice President Joe Biden has said he would maybe run for president in 2020.

When asked by a reporter at Capitol Hill whether he would run for president, Biden said, "I am going to run in 2020."

Asked by reporters if he was kidding by making such a statement, he, after a brief pause, said he is not ruling out anything.

"I'm not committing not to run. I'm not committing to anything. I learned a long time ago, fate has a strange way of intervening," said Biden, who in 2015 announced that he would not run for presidential elections.

If elected, he would be the oldest ever US president at 78.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, his close friend was the eventual Democratic nominee for the 2016 general elections.

She lost to her Republican rival Donald Trump, who is now the president-elect.
