Two persons were hacked to death by their rivals in Rajanna-Sircilla district early Tuesday morning. The deceased were identified as Savangal Yellaiah and his son Shekar who were attacked and killed by their opponents at around 5 am when they were working in their agriculture fields.

Two persons were hacked to death by their rivals in Rajanna-Sircilla district early Tuesday morning. The deceased were identified as Savangal Yellaiah and his son Shekar who were attacked and killed by their opponents at around 5 am when they were working in their agriculture fields.

The double murder took place in Kistaraopet of Illandakunta mandal and the culprits, Mamindla Devaiah, his son Venkatesh, wife Padma and brother Swamy surrendered before police.

The accused threw chilli powder at the deceased before attacking with axes.

According to the police, Devaiah’s family developed grudges against Yellaiah family as the latter refused to take the position of the land purchased from him by former. Devaiah purchased land from Yellaiah’ father a few years back but later, denied to hand over the land, instead was cultivating crops that land.

A case has been registered against the accused who have been remanded to judicial custody.

A case of SC, ST atrocities has also been registered against Devaiah.
