Gachibowli: Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali on Sunday said that the state government was intent on giving importance to sports. He was speaking as the chief guest here at a programme at GMC Balayogi Stadium, where Inter Societies Sports League was being held.
The Minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the Telangana government has been giving a lot of importance to the sports. He congratulated the organisers of the sports meet who have provided an opportunity to students of city colleges to showcase their talent in various sports. For all round development of students, along with academic excellence, students need to develop their physical endurance, he said.
Hence, the government has been allotting more funds to sports development. He advised students to engage themselves in physical sports rather than wasting their time on social media such as Facebook and WhatsApp. Praising the sports persons such as Sania Mirza, Azarudding and Saina Nehwal who brought fame to the state of Telangana, he said that the state was proud to create such world-class players.
