Gandhi Bhavan metro station was used as a shelter for the hostel students(girls) of Vanita maha vidyalaya & KN polytechnic located in Exhibition grounds when there was a fire accident last night. All these girls were safely shifted & sheltered in the metro station till midnight till the fire was totally extinguished & power was restored in these hostels.

There were about 25,000 people in numaish at the time of fire accident & opening up of Gandhi Bhavan metro station & allowing free travel facilitated easy evacuation & avoidance of stampede, according to HMR MD N V S Reddy.

Reddy thanked L&TMRHL MD KVB Reddy for immediately obliging his request. The above were scenes at Gandhibhavan station at around 9 pm last night.
