November: V Resorts, India's leading leisure hospitality chain recently organized a 2-Day POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act) Workshop at its corporate office in Noida. The workshop was themed as From #MeToo to #WeForHer.

This 2-day workshop on ‘Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act’ and ‘Vishakha Guidelines’ was initiated by V Resorts and Pune-based Alphabet Factory. The session was conducted by the Chief Trainer – Janhavi Deshpande for the entire staff of V resorts spread in 22 states at Noida office. The workshop intended to create a deeper understanding of what constitutes acceptable & unacceptable behaviour at the workplace, the legal rights of victims, and the power of a simple ‘no’. The course is about the participants (male & female workforce) taking charge of their interpersonal relations at work and deciding how people around should treat them.

The workshop covered a host of topics during the two-day workshop, including role-play scenarios and the process of legal recourse such as Gender Issues & Discrimination at the Workplace, Sexual Harassment, Related Judicial Pronouncements, Recommendations of Department Related Parliamentary Standing Committee, Provisions of the Act, Constitution of Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Duties and Roles of ICC Presiding Officer / Member, Third Party Harassment, Role of an Employer & Preventive Policies (organization), and Steps to Conduct Inquiry.

Speaking about the workshop, Aditi Balbir, Founder & CEO of V Resorts said, “We always had a zero tolerance policy towards any kind of sexual harassment and have an internal committee on this issue in place for years. It is important however to keep sensitising the workforce continually, and this workshop is one such initiative that should help allay whatever fears any employee, especially a female, may have in what is a male-dominated industry”

Janhavi Deshpande, Chief trainer at Alphabet Factory conducting the workshop added, “For every action, they say there is an equal and opposite reaction. Sexual harassment cases are suppressed and the biggest reason there is a lack of knowledge. So a need to educate, train and help to report cases will help set a culture of respect, not just in organisations but also in our society”

V Resorts regularly sensitises its employees with external experts on issues of topical importance. V Resorts is one of the very few organisations in the country where POSH workshop has taken place.
