Telecom operators have simplified the process of dialing an STD mobile number. Earlier, prefix ‘0’ or ‘+91’ was mandatory for dialing an STD number but now to implement complete mobile number portability (MNP), there is no requirement to type in a prefix of an STD code.

Various networks such as MTNL, Vodafone and Airtel have already tried this updated process but other operators are yet to make it applicable. But with the full mobile number portability deadline coming into effect by July, the operators will soon activate the simplified dialing process.

Mobile Number Portability (MNP) effectively permits a user to port the same number to a different network provided that they change it to an operator within the home surroundings. With full MNP, a user can also port the number to an STD network.
