Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), a Hyderabad-based Government of India enterprise signed ‘Transfer of Technology’ agreement for Internet of Things (IoT) with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), a leading research and development institution of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY). 

Hyderabad: Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), a Hyderabad-based Government of India enterprise signed ‘Transfer of Technology’ agreement for Internet of Things (IoT) with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), a leading research and development institution of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY).

The agreement was signed at a function held in Delhi on Wednesday. Chairman and Managing Director of ECIL P Sudhakar exchanged ‘technology transfer’ documents with Prof Rajat Moona, Director General of C-DAC in the presence of Dr Aruna Sharma, Secretary of DeitY. IoT is altogether a new technology with the help of which the current internet will be smartly utilised by a new range of embedded connected things.

IoT products support solutions that need remote monitoring and control. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Rajat Moona said that IoT products developed by C-DAC support features which enables the industry to develop and deploy solutions for different applications.

Sudhakar said that in the last forty nine years, ECIL has been actively interacting with the leading R&D as well as Academic institutions of the nation and converted the technologies developed by them into successful solutions. He informed that ECIL is planning to utilise this technology for applications like smart cities, surveillance, smart energy systems and water management systems.

Dr Aruna Sharma advised ECIL to make Health care and Agriculture applications their priority and develop smart solutions with C-DAC products for the cities of Pune and Visakhapatnam. Dr Sarath Chandra Babu, Executive Director, C-DAC and Dr Debashish Datta, Group coordinator of DeitY emphasised the need for close association between industry and the development centres to address the opportunities in smart solutions.
