Hyderabad: In order to curb the irregularities in the engineering wing, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to monitor the progress of works through online monitoring system called TEAM (Task Electronic Assessment & Monitoring).

Through this system, the status of work will be updated on daily basis from finalising tender to payment to the contractor. The civic body will develop a mobile app in this regard where the progress on the work will be monitored. Officials claim that online monitoring system will enhance the credibility and curb several irregularities in both engineering projects and maintenance wings.

According to officials, the civic body has come out with a web-based solution cum mobile app to register the activities right from inception to completion of any work/project including estimation, procurement, work order, monitoring the progress of work, measurement book, quality control, bills and payments with approvals accorded via mobile/web cloud in different sections of GHMC. He said that the TEAM has been integrated with the existing ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) in the civic body.

A senior GHMC official told The Hans India that this has been implemented in Uppal circle on trail basis and yielded desired results. He said with the success in one circle, GHMC has decided to implement the technology in all circles of the civic body for maintenance and project works.

The official further said that the online monitoring system fixes accountability; paves the way for transparency and easy access to documents. With the system, quality can be monitored; payments can be made easy and middlemen can be avoided.
